While shep­herds watched their flocks by night

From dan­gers that sur­round;

The an­gel of the Lord shone bright

With glo­ry all around.

All glo­ry to God! the an­gels sing

Peace on earth

good will to men;

Glad tid­ings of great joy they bring

All hail the star of Beth­le­hem!

The shep­herds they were sore afraid

And trou­bled in their mind;

I bring

said he

in white ar­rayed

Great joy to all man­kind.

To you in Beth­le­hem this day

Is born of roy­al line

A Sav­ior

who is Christ

the Lord

And this shall be a sign.

The shep­herds glo­ri­fied their God

For what they saw and heard;

Good will to all

the an­gels sang

Who love and keep His word.
