The Time Is Drawing Near

Composer: John Lee, 1901

O the time is drawing near

When our Lord shall reappear

In His glory from on high;

I shall look for Him today

Let Him come whene’er He may

I’ll be with Him by and by.

When the trumpet shall be blown

And He calleth for His own

I will answer to my name;

Take the crown He giveth me

Wear it thro’ eternity

And His praises loud proclaim.

When He tells the dead to rise

Then the world will realize

What a Savior is our Lord;

He will come to judge us all

Good and bad

and great and small

As recorded in His word.

O the righteous in that day

Will be welcomed there to stay

In the country of the blest;

Yes

the righteous He’ll receive

All who in Him do believe

Will be welcomed there to rest.

Dare I say the Lord is late?

I will patient I watch and wait

For His promises are sure;

He will come down by and by

Then I’ll dwell with Him on high

With the holy and the pure.

Should He come by day or night

Let our lamp be burning bright

Trimmed and ready for the King;

He will sit upon His throne

When He gathers all His own:

They shall rest beneath His wing.
