The Shelter of God’s Love

lyricist: Mary Brown, 1903
Composer: Howard Doane

When on the weary heart there gently dawns

The fullness of His love

Then with our spirits tuned to joy and praise

We sing

God rules above!

How He loves us

the notes come ringing

From all the faithful

His mercy singing;

The whole earth to Him is bringing

Praises for His love and care.

Safe in the shadow of His mighty wings

He hides us day by day;

In that sweet shelter we may sweetly gain

Courage to tread life’s way.

And when we each shall enter death’s dark vale

Our earthly race well run

He’ll grant us faith and courage still to say

Dear Lord

Thy will be done.
