The Savior at the Door

Composer: John Roberts, 1917

The Savior stands outside the door

In loving mercy waiting there;

And longs to pass the threshold o’er

To free thy life from earthborn care.

He knocks! He knocks! unbar the door

Lest He depart forevermore;

He knocks! He knocks! O let Him in

He’ll cleanse thy heart from every sin.

He knocks with hands all rent and torn

With cruel spikes nailed to the tree

And in His body there hath borne

The penalty of sin for thee.

Accept Him now

thy Savior

friend

While there is time thy lamp to trim

Lest woe shall be thine awful end

For having thus rejected Him.
