The Riches of Heaven

lyricist: Adel MacDonald, 1893
Composer: Frederick Fillmore

Not all the treasures of the earth

Can vie for beauty or for worth

With those who in God’s Word abound

For there the richest gems are found.

No costly vesture do I crave

No princely jewels would I have

But robed with Thy humility

O Savior

I would ever be.

The crowns of earth

oh

do not bring

Tho’ won by proudest prince or king

For

in a land more bright and fair

There is the crown I long to wear.

Tho’ but a wanderer I roam

Not here I seek my rest or home

For I’ve a portion with the blest

And only there shall be my rest.
