The Prince of Glory

lyricist: Anonymous, 1893
Composer: Henry Blosser

The Prince of glory

God’s own Son

Descended from the skies

Where praises to His Father’s name

In endless measure rise.

To save a lost and sinful race

In Satan’s fetters bound

For this He made the wondrous choice

To Him all praise resound.

He came from Heaven’s glory bright

From God’s own glory shone;

From those eternal realms of day

Around His Father’s throne.

His love for me

a sinful man

Thus manifested great

Extends to me this present hour

My answer to await.

Yes

Christ to sinful man came down

To suffer patiently;

To be betrayed and put to shame

And nailed upon the tree.

All this for me the Son of God

Endured with wondrous love

To show to me the way of life

To His own home above.
