The Newborn King

In the si­lence of the night

Shepherds saw a heav­en­ly light;

And they heard the an­gel say

Christ the Lord is born to­day.

Glory! glo­ry let us sing

Glory to the new­born King!

Loud ho­san­nas we will raise

In the great Re­deem­er’s praise.

Then a host ap­peared and sang

Heaven with hal­le­lu­jahs rang;

Peace on earth

good-will to men

Was pro­claimed at Beth­le­hem.

Wise men

guid­ed by His star

Sought the Strang­er from afar;

Brought their gifts of myrrh and gold

To Mes­si­ah

long fore­told.

Prince of Peace! by Heav­en ado­red;

Life and light He came to bring;
