The Mercies of My God and King

lyricist: Henry Lyte, 1834
Composer: William Croft, 1708

The mercies of my God and King

My tongue shall still pursue:

O happy they who

while they sing

Those mercies

share them too!

As bright and lasting as the sun

As lofty as the sky

From age to age Thy truth shall run

And chance and change defy.

The covenant of the King of kings

Shall stand for ever sure;

And ’neath the shadow of Thy wings

Thy saints repose secure.

Thine is the earth

and Thine the skies

Created at Thy will:

The waves at Thy command arise

At Thy command are still.

In earth below

in Heav’n above

Who

who is Lord like Thee?

O spread the Gospel of Thy love

Till all Thy glories see.
