The Kindly Light Is Leading

O the kind­ly light

Is shin­ing on my path­way

Thro’ the gath’ring gloom

And dark­ness of the night;

And I fear no ev­il

For the way be­fore me

In a flood of glo­ry

Now ap­pears to sight.

Blessèd kind­ly light

Glorious cheer­ing ray

’Tis the light of Heav­en

Shining glad and free;

Blessèd kind­ly light

Leading all the way

O the kind­ly light

Is lead­ing ev­en me.

I was lost amid

The heavy mist of sor­row

Grieving for the loved ones

Who had passed from sight

When the light be­fore me

Led my falt’ring foot­steps

To the path they jour­neyed

To the man­sions bright.

When the jour­ney of

This life is some­time ov­er

I know I’ll be glad

I fol­lowed all the way

For the light that guid­ed

Safely thro’ the dark­ness

Then will lead me on­ward

To the per­fect day.
