The Joy-Life

There’s a world of joy and glad­ness

And its glad­ness we im­part

In dis­pel­ling gloom and sad­ness

From the wea­ry

trou­bled heart.

God

who loves us

gives the bless­ing—

Pure and pre­cious joys in Him

For the soul tow’rd Heav­en press­ing

For the life all cleansed from sin.

Live the joy-life day by day

Learn to la­bor

watch and pray;

Claim your grace and strength from Je­sus;

Live the joy-life day by day.

Clouds for mo­ments veil the glo­ry

Of the joy-life from the sky

Yet the sun is ev­er shin­ing—

We may find it if we try;

Jesus knows and loves us ev­er

And in Him this joy we find;

Neither life nor death can sev­er

Precious ties so strong and kind.

Daily du­ties are but blessi­ngs

Sometimes hard and drear they seem

But while glad­ly on­ward press­ing

Soon we’ll catch the glo­ry-gleam;

Never task too hard or hea­vy

For His strength to help along;

Never a step so sad or wea­ry

But will bright­en with a song.
