The Gospel Invitation (Murrey)

lyricist: N. H. Murrey, 1879
Composer: Frank Davis

Come humbly to the mercy seat

Make all your anguish known;

Fall prostrate at the Savior’s feet

Who pleads before the throne.

Come

sinner

now

and humbly bow

While yet the Spirit pleads

At mercy’s gate the Savior waits

And for you intercedes.

With penitential grief and tears

Your guilt and shame confess;

Confess to Him your sins and fears

Who ready waits to bless.

Your sins may be of deepest dye

Your crimes like crimson glow;

The blood His flowing wounds supply

Will cleanse you white as snow.

’Tis faith in Him

the Son of God

The captive soul will free;

Faith in His warm and precious blood

That flowed on Calvary.
