The Celestial City

Composer: Grace Watkins, 1903

There is a city built on high

From earthly sorrows free

Bought by a Savior’s precious blood

A home for you and me.

I will meet you in that city

In that bright celestial city

Where all sorrow

pain

And parting will be o’er;

I will meet you in that city

In God’s everlasting city

There we’ll praise Him

With our loved ones gone before.

Its gates are pearl

its streets are gold

Its walls are jewels rare;

No need of sun or moon to shine

For God is brightness there.

There peace and joy will reign complete

There’ll be no night or strife;

Oh

will your name be written in

The Lamb’s great book of life?
