The Angels’ Song (Wheeler)

lyricist: Joseph Wheeler, 1893
Composer: James Rosecrans

How bright and grand

how glorious

The angels’ joyful song

When Christ

the Lord victorious

From Heav’n to earth came down;

They sweetly sang the story

Of love to all mankind

Of peace on earth

and glory

To God most high

divine.

The swelling chorus raises

The glad

triumphant song;

They harp and sing His praises

With hallelujahs long;

He comes! He comes with glory!

The Christ from Heav’n above

To tell the world the story

Of His redeeming love.

And ’round His throne so glorious

Chimes in the angel throng;

The seraphs shout

victorious!

The King of kings is born;

Ye people

bow before Him

With songs of one accord

To praise Him

and adore Him—

The blessèd Lamb of God.
