That Window in the Skies

lyricist: C. H. Gootee, 1906
Composer: Mrs. W. E. Lyon

I have heard some people say

Who are in the narrow way

That they are trusting Jesus now for all;

They have land and houses

too

But God’s tithes are overdue

And the blessings they receive are very small.

There’s a window in the skies

That will brighten up your eyes;

There’s a window God will open

When you bring in all your tithes;

There’s a window in the skies

That will fill you with surprise;

That window God will open

When you bring in all your tithes.

They have losses but no gain

And their heart is full of pain

When business will not go just as it should;

O so little they can give

For it takes it all to live

They would like to do such great things if they could.

There’s the heathen need the Word

The glad news they’ve never heard

These stingy people keep from God His tithes;

And their heart is cold and lone

There’s no music in their tone

And they often wipe the teardrops from their eyes.
