God’s bless­èd word we read with joy

On this His ho­ly day;

And may the truths that we shall learn

Inspire us to ob­ey.

His mes­sage sweet is giv­en us

To help and bless us all;

We pray His Spir­it to im­part

And keep us lest we fall.

This lamp that guides our err­ing feet

The light that points the way;

Will lead us through all years to come

To Heav­en’s bright­er day.
