Shall I Wait?

Shall I wait un­til the sun­set

Marks the close of life’s short day

Ere I give my heart to Je­sus

And His Word and truth ob­ey?

No! I will re­mem­ber Je­sus

In this glad ac­cept­ed hour;

Give my­self un­to His serv­ice

Yield to His re­sist­less pow­er.

Shall I wait for man­hood’s vi­gor

Thinking that the world’s vain toy

Will then fail to give me plea­sure

Or give place to oth­er joys?

Shall I wait un­til the mor­row

Brings me near­er to the tomb

When I know that death’s keen ar­row

May be­fore then seal my doom?
