The com­ing of the Lord

is quick­ly draw­ing near;

His chos­en mes­sen­ger

this time­ly warn­ing bring:

My bu­si­ness here

most cer­tain­ly

is for my con­quer­ing king.

Give heed to God’s en­trea­ty

give heed to God’s co­mmand;

Obey the voice of mer­cy

and you shall safe­ly stand.

O Church of God

pre­pare to meet your Lord;

Behold

I quick­ly come

thus sa­ith He in His word;

Prepare

pre­pare most care­ful­ly

your Bride­groom to re­ceive.

sin­ner

heed the mes­sage

it comes from Christ the Lord;

Repent! Rep­ent! Re­pent! Pre­pare to meet thy God!

Behold the cross

Mt. Cal­va­ry

His pierc­èd feet and hands!

And glad­ly

cheer­ful­ly ob­ey the Sav­ior’s kind com­mands.

naught else you then need fear;

Give glo­ry to His name

and wor­ship Him most dear;

That dread­ful time

the judg­ment day

most sure­ly is at hand!

Now heed this time­ly warn­ing

and thus pre­pare to stand.
