Who had wan­dered far away;

His life He of­fered

On Cal­va­ry’s cross one day.

It was your sin and my sin

That nailed Him to the tree

For your sake and my sake

He made sal­va­tion free;

No gift from earth’s trea­sure

His grace e’er can mea­sure

But your love and my love

Is all He asks to­day.

’Twas love

un­bound­ed love for us that led Him

O’er that lone­ly

thorn-strewn way;

For you and me He bore the shame and sor­row

On Cal­va­ry’s cross that day.

Oh

hear His voice so gent­ly now en­treat­ing

Then no long­er from Him stray;

Accept the gra­cious call

and leave your bur­den
