O Sinner, Come Home

lyricist: Enoch Stubbs, 1880
Composer: John Sweney

O sinner

come home

the banquet is waiting

Return to thy Father

sin’s folly forsaking;

That Father still loves thee

and waits to embrace

His penitent child

when returning through grace.

Then

sinner

come home; the feast is all ready;

Prepared for the blind

the poor and the needy;

The worst are invited

all welcome will be;

Return

then

there’s room at this table for thee.

Thy sins have been great

thy wanderings far;

But greater His mercy; then follow yon star

That leads thee to Him

whom the angels adore;

And be happy at home

thence to wander no more.

He will not upbraid thee with sins of the past;

The Lord will forgive; He is true to the last;

The law of His mercy can not be repealed

It standeth forever

with blood it is sealed.
