Mother and Home

lyricist: William Golden, 1927
Composer: C. S. McKee

In a graveyard lone

near the dear old home

Lies a form I love so well;

And I’ll ne’er forget how she cared for me

Ere she said

My boy

farewell.

From this earth dear mother’s gone

But we’ll meet on Canaan’s shore;

There we’ll live while ages roll

Where sad partings come no more.

O the dear old home where I used to play

Is a place most dear to me;

But the one I loved I shall see no more

Till I cross the jasper sea.

Near the dear old home

in the graveyard lone

Mother’s form was laid to rest;

But we’ll meet again in the by and by

And be numbered with the blest.

From this earth dear mother’s gone

But we’ll meet on Canaan’s shore;

There we’ll live while ages roll

Where sad partings come no more.

O the dear old home where I used to play

Is a place most dear to me;

But the one I loved I shall see no more

Till I cross the jasper sea.

Near the dear old home

in the graveyard lone

Mother’s form was laid to rest;

But we’ll meet again in the by and by

And be numbered with the blest.
