Morn of Beauty!

lyricist: Anonymous, 1916
Composer: Edward Handley (1842–1904)

Morn of beauty! Morn of gladness

Brightening o’er the sinful earth;

Chasing shades of doubt and sadness

Wakening all to holy mirth.

Past the days of tears and mourning

Peace and joy alone remain;

Hail alone the light of Easter dawning

On the darksome world again.

Ransomed sinners gladly waking

Bless the day the Savior rose;

Chains of death asunder breaking

Vain the malice of His foes.

Now redemption’s work completed

Gloriously He leaves the grave!

Be by every tongue repeated

Christ the Lord is ris’n to save!
