Lord, You’ve raised love’s banner o’er us

Composer: François-Hippolyte Barthélemon

Lord

You’ve raised love’s banner o’er us

Cheering feast of love withal.

Thy redemption’s grace so bounteous—

Reverent

grateful

we recall.

By the bread and cup

Thy love is

Manifest for all to see;

We receive Thy grace in oneness

And together worship Thee.

We recall how You descended

Suffered hardships as a slave;

You were tempted

often fasted

Toiled

no place Your head to lay.

But for sinners You kept searching

Hungry

thirsty

mocked

reviled.

If but one repented

counting

Your shed blood was all worthwhile.

We recall Your crucifixion

God-forsaken

man-condemned;

How alone You paid our ransom

Boundless love exhibited;

How at God’s right in the heavens

Constantly You intercede;

How You promised reappearance;

Soon fulfill this word

we plead.
