Lights Along the Shore

lyricist: Franklin Hardin, 1892
Composer: C. A. Shaw

O blessèd lights along the shore

O blessèd coming aid

I hear above the tempest’s roar

Thy voice

Be not dismayed.

O beauteous lights along the shore

Or stars or beacons fair

We bless your beams

and yield no more

To billows of despair.

Soon trials will no more distress

Our suffering will be passed;

God will His faithful children bless

And shelter from the blast.

O glorious lights that flash afar

Sweet messages of love

That sound above earth’s din and jar

There’s rest and peace above.

Though storms be long and streams be deep

Faith

hope

ne’er

ne’er give o’er;

Almighty power will ever keep

Lights on the heavenly shore.
