The Christ

the Mes­si­ah! Our bless­èd Re­deem­er!

Is com­ing with bless­ings the whole world to fill.

Just the same Je­sus

but robed in His glo­ry!

Long past are the thorns

and the mock­ing and pain;

No more to be pierced by the nail or the spear thrust!

Now on­ly the me­mo­ry and scars will re­main.

Just the same Je­sus

and God will bring with Him

All those who have fall­en asleep in the Lord!

So tell this good news to the mourn­er in pi­ty—

Naught else on this earth can such com­fort af­ford.

Just the same Je­sus

the Lord keep us watch­ing!

The signs of His com­ing are seen far and near.

The night is far spent

and the day is ap­proach­ing

When Christ in His glo­ry and pow’r shall ap­pear.

Just the same Je­sus! All eyes shall be­hold Him

Exalted to hon­or where once He was slain!

The great King of kings

all the na­tions shall crown Him!

For o’er all the earth He in glo­ry shall reign.
