It Is I

In the darkness of the night

Sailing on a stormy ocean

With no hope or peace in sight

On a churning

gloomy sea.

Amidst the wind and waves

what do I see?

It’s a Man who walks above the waves to me.

And He said

“It is I.

It is I. Don’t be afraid.

Let Me in—

To your boat

I’ll calm the waves.

I can be in you

A harbor

warm and safe.

Just open up your heart.

I am the way.”

All the troubles in my life

Make me feel like I’m surrounded

Countless problems

pain

and strife

Come to rob my soul of peace.

I’m worn and weary fighting off the grief.

Is there no one who my suffering can relieve?

The Lord says

“It is I.

It is I. Don’t be afraid.

Let Me in—

To your boat

I’ll calm the waves.

I can be in you

warm and safe.

Just open up your heart.

I am the way.”

Jesus is the Son of God

Come as man

full of compassion.

Crucified upon a cross

He bore all your sins away.

His life subdues the power of the grave.

Will you let Him soothe your aching heart today?

Then He’ll say

“It is I.

It is I. Don’t be afraid.

Just believe

Call My name and you’ll be saved.”

Oh Lord Jesus

You’re the One I need today.

I let You in my heart

Come in to stay.
