In the low­ly man­ger ly­ing

See

the love­ly Babe ap­pears!

Round Him beams the light un­dy­ing

And His smile thro’ dark­ness cheers!

Angels wake the bless­èd chor­us

Lo! the night hath passed away!

See

the King who reign­eth o’er us

Was a babe on Christ­mas day!

Wond’ring shep­herds watch­ing night­ly

Saw the star ab­ove them shine

And it led them

gleam­ing bright­ly

To the Lord of love di­vine!

Tell the sweet and won­drous sto­ry

How the Son of God on high

Left His home of peace and glo­ry

In the realms be­yond the sky!

Sing of how He came to mor­tals

Thro’ His love and kind­li­ness!

How He op­ened Heav’n’s bright por­tals

All His child­ren there to bless!
