If I Wait

Hark! the Sav­ior’s voice I hear

Calling me from de­serts drear

He no more may be so near

if I wait;

Why should I today re­fuse

Or His mer­cies fail to choose?

Naught to gain

but all to lose

if I wait.

If I wait to seek God’s fa­vor

Lost may be my soul for aye;

If I wait

but oh! my Sav­ior

Help me yield to Thee to­day!

Endless life He of­fers me

Sweet sal­va­tion full and free

But I may not ran­somed be

if I wait;

Trusting in His right­eous­ness

All my sins I will con­fess

Lest it be too late to bless

if I wait.

All to Christ I now re­sign

Yielding to His will di­vine

I may pass the bor­der line

if I wait;

The ac­cept­ed time’s to­day

And I now His voice ob­ey

Death may bear my soul away

if I wait.
