I Am on the Way

Composer: J. D. Eller, 1919

On the cross of Calvary

My Redeemer died for me

And for all His followers He prepares a place;

Since I clasped His loving hand

Out in sin’s great desert land

I am on the way to Heaven

praise His grace!

O the precious love of Jesus

It is burning in my soul;

I am on the way to glory

Where I shall Him e’er extol!

I was lost in sin and night

With no hope of peace and light

Wandering farther from my Savior day by day;

But thro’ pardoning grace and love

To the happy home above

With a song of gladness

I am on the way.

Fully yielding Christ my heart

Bidding doubts and fears depart

Trusting Him that I in sin no more shall stray;

To the home of joy untold

Where I shall His face behold

Praising Him for victory

I am on the way.
