He Lives and Reigns

When in the grave the Sav­ior lay

Death tri­umphed for an hour

But soon the Lord of life arose

And passed be­yond its pow­er.

He broke death’s migh­ty sway

Passed to realms of end­less day

Hallelujah to the Sav­ior

For He lives

He lives to reign for aye.

So shall the dead in Christ arise

According to His Word

Pass far be­yond earth’s night

to be

Forever with the Lord.

Beyond the dark­ness of the tomb

Beyond all pain and sin

There safe in peace to rest at home

Heav’n’s gates to pass with­in.
