He Goes with Me

lyricist: John Paul and Kenneth Wells, 1927
Composer: Kenneth Wells

He goes with me upon the stormy ocean;

He bears me safely thro’ the restless sea;

He stills my fears

despite my life’s commotion

And maketh all the winds a calm to me.

He goes with me where’er I go

Tho’ waves dash high or wild winds blow;

Yet this I know

whate’er betide

He still will be my faithful guide.

He is the One who taught the sons of morning

To sing their songs of everlasting joy;

The saints of every age

His will adorning

Have found unbounded peace in His employ.

Redeemer of the world

the Rock of Ages

Whose name too high and sacred for my voice

No matter how the power of evil rages

Can save the one who maketh Him his choice.

Some day the storms of life will all be over

And safe in port my anchor I will cast;

Till then I’ll trust in Jesus as my pilot

Nor fear no ill

tho’ skies be overcast.
