don’t de­lay;

Go re­joic­ing on the way

Rising high­er ev­ery day

While tra­vel­ing up to Zi­on.

In the way marked out of old

Follow line of du­ty bold;

Then each dan­ger you be­hold

Will prove a chain­èd li­on.

Each step for­ward

up or down

Met by scorn

re­buke

or frown

Brings us near­er to the crown

We shall re­ceive in Zi­on.

Sorrows and af­flict­ions meet;

Dangers threat­en

tri­als greet;

Fear not! Je­sus guides the feet

And points the way to Zi­on.

On the mount His praise pro­long;

Pass the gloomy vale with song;

Richest bless­ings ev­er throng

The pil­grim’s way to Zi­on.
