From the grave He came vic­tor­ious

Our Re­deem­er King all glo­ri­ous!

Death had no pow’r to hold its prey

For an­gels rolled the stone away.

our migh­ty Head

who once was dead!

our birth­right to re­store

He lives for­ev­er­more.

Roman seal and guard no long­er

Could de­fy

for He was strong­er;

The whole earth trem­bled at the pow’r

Divinely brought to bear that hour.

Death was con­quered once for­ev­er!

We shall fear it hence­forth nev­er!

A light is shin­ing ’mid the gloom

To guide us safe­ly thro’ the tomb.
