Even Song

lyricist: Ida Hunneman, 1906
Composer: Este’s Psalter, 1592

This day Thou gavest us

O Lord

Has passed beyond our sight:

Thy loving care has crowned its hours

Watch o’er us thro the night.

E’en as the twilight deepens here

’Tis day in distant lands.

Gird all Thy servants there with strength

With blessings fill their hands.

While we’re asleep

they labor

Lord;

O grant them rich success

And peaceful slumber

when we wake

And strive thro’ Thee to bless.

At home

abroad

we praise Thee

Lord

For countless mercies giv’n;

Help us to follow in Thy steps

Thro’ earthly days to Heav’n.
