Easter Joy (White)

lyricist: Grace White, 1895
Composer: Arthur Burnett

With joy we raise our voices

In one thanksgiving song;

While every heart rejoices

And would the song prolong.

’Tis gladsome Easter morning

Blest resurrection day;

The glory of its dawning

Casts all our fears away.

Today we sing the triumph

Of Jesus Christ our king

Who burst the grave’s dark fetters

And life to light did bring.

Who taught by His blest rising

On happy Easter day

This mighty truth surprising

Our souls shall live alway.

Each heart today believing

The promise of the years

Is peace and strength receiving

And faith to calm all fears.

Today we hear His message

As I live

so shall ye;

Let not your hearts be troubled

Believe also in Me.

And thus our hearts with gladness

Would hail this Easter day

And banish shade of sadness

From every soul away;

For Jesus has arisen

To be our Lord and king;

The grave has lost its victory

And death has lost its sting.
