Shall peace on earth be wait­ing

Shall man with man con­tend

While Je­sus stands in­vit­ing

The soul to love’s blest end?

By love and sweet sub­mis­sion

The Mas­ter’s voice ob­ey;

Come

join the heav’n­ly mis­sion

And watch and work and pray!

Shall pass­ion still be able

From truth to lead as­tray?

Shall from the Lord’s free ta­ble

The hun­gry turn away?

Nay

on Thine al­tar ho­ly

With un­re­serv­èd mind

To Christ and God all glo­ry;

Help us our hearts to bind.
