Blessèd the hour when Je­sus first spoke

Peace to my soul

which

bur­dened with sin

Long had been strug­gling

sad and alone;

Gives me a joy the world can­not know;

Soon shall I come to life’s clos­ing scenes;

Soon earth­ly journ’y­ings all shall be past;
