Wise men in the East

we’re told

Did a won­drous star be­hold;

Gem of Heav­en’s dia­dem

’Twas the Star of Beth­le­hem.

They be­held it from afar

Knew it as their guid­ing star;

To the Christ Child lead­ing them;

Blessèd Star of Beth­le­hem.

Gifts they brought of wealth un­told

Myrrh and frank­in­cense and gold;

And they knelt their vows to pay

To the King on this glad day.
