Ask for the old path; God will make it plain;

Jesus will lead us there;

They who would find it nev­er seek in vain;

He will lead us there.

When the val­ley safe­ly we have passed

God will ga­ther us home at last;

Home in the old path glad­ly we will go;

Knock at the por­tal

nar­row though it be;

Pray that we en­ter in;

Faith is the pass­word

prayer the bless­èd key;

Strive to en­ter in.

Walk in the old path; nev­er turn aside;

Climb we the rug­ged hill;

Why should we fal­ter? see our faith­ful Guide

Leading on­ward still.

Keep in the old path

ev­er to the right;

Lo! ’tis the King’s high­way;

Soon will the sha­dows van­ish from our sight

Lost in per­fect day.
