Arise, Christian Soldier

Composer: Edith Norton, 1906

Oh

Christian

arise

The conflict fierce is raging

And trusting in God

His help today implore;

Behold

what a fight

The enemy is raging

Haste nor deem the conflict o’er.

Arise

oh arise

And hasten

Christian soldier

Go forth to the fight

That waits for us today;

No time for delay!

For Satan’s power grows bolder;

Jesus calls! We must obey.

Oh

Christian

arise

For souls around are dying;

The call comes to you—

Oh

send them light today;

The glad Gospel news—

To those in bondage lying

Speed and help them while you may.

Oh

Christian

arise!

And buckle on the armor

Go forth to the fray

For Christ Himself is near;

His grace will sustain

And naught of ill shall harm you;

Jesus leads—why should you fear?

Oh

Christian

arise—

For soon the morning breaketh

That glad blessèd morn

When all earth’s shadows flee;

So fight night and day

’Till Heaven’s dawn awaketh

That shall bring the victory.
