A Roman Centurion Sought Out the Lord

lyricist: Carolyn Gillette, 2014
Composer: Welsh tune

A Roman centurion sought out the Lord:

My servant is suffering

but just give the word!

For I have authority; you have it

too.

I know he’ll be well with a blessing from you.

Then Jesus responded to those who were near

There’s not

in God’s people

the faith I’ve found here.

And someday God’s kingdom will bring a surprise

With outsiders in and the heirs left outside.

The Lord sent him home and it soon was revealed

That just at that moment

the servant was healed.

That outsider saw it; may we see it

too:

That Christ has the power to make our lives new.
