A Prayer for Eventide

Deep in the west now the sun is sink­ing low

And skies in beau­ty re­flect its ra­di­ant glow:

What have I done

O Lord

for Thee to­day?

Have I been faith­ful to Thee along my way?

Have I been will­ing my lit­tle cross to bear?

Have I been will­ing my bro­ther’s cross to share?

Have I re­vealed to those who walk with me

That I am walk­ing hand in hand

O Lord

with Thee?

Forgive me

Fa­ther

where I have failed to­day;

My eyes un­veil

Lord

and hear me while I pray;

And if for me the sun shall rise no more

Receive me

Fa­ther

to Thy­self on yon­der shore.

Amen
